Green Lake, Austria
Salzkammergut is a beautiful «land of lakes» in Styria. This land is a popular Austrian resort thanks to a lot of beautiful natural ponds. Green lake is near mountains Hochschwab near the village of Tragos in Austria. Green lake is one of the most extraordinary and the most beautiful natural phenomena.
What can you see there?
The Austrian Green lake is a beautiful park with footpaths, benches, green fields from August to April. But this mysterious place is immersed in the melted water coming from the mountains on 4-5 meters in the spring. And it turns into the lake. The water in the lake is crystal clear. Visibility is 20 – 30 meters. Thanks to the clear water, boat trips on the Green Lake are a real adventure. Green lake is a popular place for divers and lovers of underwater photography. So when the park turns into the lake all paths and bridges across streams are used by divers. There is a diving centre on the shore of Green lake where you can rent equipment for diving. However there isn`t the dive school, so you should have the certificate about the completion of the dive training school. Maximum temperature of water is from +6 to +8°C. The Green Lake has a maximum depth of about 12 meters. But the depth of the lake is changeable because of the inflow occurring due to snowmelt.
Snails, small crabs, crustaceans and worms and the brown trout are the cold-blooded inhabitants of Granitee.
The lake was named «The Green Lake» because of the rich vegetation at the «bottom» of the lake. Ordinary meadow grass, shrubs and trees give the water an amazing emerald hue. Landscapes are fascinating : walking paths run along the bottom of the lake, beautiful bridges and picturesque verdure.
